Texas Educational Opportunity Grant
The Texas Educational Opportunity Grant (TEOG) helps eligible, financially needy students attend public institutions of higher education in Texas. Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for TEOG, you must:

Submit a FAFSA.

Have a Student Aid Index (SAI) below the level set by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Be a Texas resident, or a non-resident who graduated from a Texas high school (or earned a Texas GED) and lived in Texas for the three years prior.

Enroll at least half-time (6+ credit hours).

Have fewer than 45 attempted college credit hours (excluding dual credit, concurrent enrollment, and credit-by-exam credits).

If male, be registered with Selective Service.

Be current on child support, if applicable.
-
Not have a felony or drug conviction.
How Long Students Can Receive TEOG
If you maintain eligibility, you may continue receiving TEOG for:
- Up to 75 attempted semester credit hours,
- Up to four years, or
- Until completing an associate degree; whichever occurs first.
Academic Requirements to Maintain TEOG
To keep receiving TEOG, you must meet the following academic standards:
After the first year:
- Meet the college’s Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy.
- Complete 67% of all attempted credit hours.
- Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
After the second year and beyond:
- Complete 67% of all attempted credit hours each academic year.
- Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.

Who can apply for TPEG?
If you are classified as one of these students, you may be eligible for TPEG. Learn more about the TPEG application process.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for TPEG, you must:
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Submit the Statement of Eligibility for State-Funded Programs form for the aid year.
- For males students only, submit the selective service form.
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student pursuing a degree or certificate in an eligible program.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
How TPEG Funds Are Applied
If you submitted a FAFSA application, TPEG funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served.
Awards typically range from $100 - $500 per semester.

- Check with the Dual Credit Office to see how your exemptions will be posted to your account.

If approved, TPEG can cover the remaining cost that exemptions did not cover.

- Students who are ineligible to fill out the FAFSA and are classified Non Resident.
